Postdoc/Research Fellow position in NEMO Numerical Ocean Modeling and Forecasting at the Tropical Marine Science Institute, National University of Singapore. We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to lead the development of a regional configuration of the ocean circulation model NEMO. The successful applicant is expected to perform the configuration, validation and operationalisation of NEMO for the eastern Indian Ocean/South China Sea region. Successful candidate is expected to have a PhD in a physical oceanography or numerical ocean modelling, excellent technical and communication skills, both written and verbal to disseminate key results to the project partners and government stakeholders. Required Qualifications and Experience: - Ph.D in physical oceanography with good understanding in air-sea interaction and ocean dynamics. - Experience in the development of regional ocean forecasting models. Prior modeling experience with NEMO and data assimilation using variational methods will be an advantage. - Excellent ocean data analysis and visualization skills. - Good technical skill in Linux shell scripting as well as fortran, python, matlab, ferret programming experience. - Work in a self‐directed manner within a team environment in particular with a weather forecast expert. The position will be offered for two-year period starting from early 2018 and will remain open until a suitable candidate has been selected.
