The Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science at ETH Zürich has an open
position in the “Climate and Water Cycle” research group led by Prof. Christoph
Schär:
Postdoc Position in Climate Modeling / Scientific Computing (80-100%)

The aim of our research is to better understand the role of the water cycle in
a changing climate, and to improve the predictive power of climate models. The
position will be devoted to regional climate modeling at different resolutions
(50 - 2 km grid spacing). The targeted work includes: development of modeling
strategy, execution of long-term model simulations, statistical analysis and
publication of results, in addition to make contact and interaction with impact
groups.

The position is embedded in an experienced research team, provides access to
high-performance computing systems, is linked with ongoing international and
national initiatives (e.g. EURO-CORDEX, COPERNICUS, HORIZON2020, crCLIM), and
will involve supervision / support of MSc and PhD students.
We offer an attractive research environment at a leading climate research
institute, a friendly working atmosphere in a young and ambitious research
team, and excellent infrastructure. The ideal starting date for this position
is fall 2017. The position is for a period of two years with options for
extension.

We are looking for an independent, technically oriented person with the ability
to work well in a team. Requirements include: a PhD in atmospheric or climate
sciences or a related discipline, experience in atmospheric modeling, solid
experience in Unix, Python, and ideally also Fortran, proficient writing skills
in English, and good communication skills.

We look forward to receiving your online application including cover letter, a
CV, list of publications, names and contact details of 2-3 references. The
