Within the newly established Northeast Center of Excellence in Vector
Biology

a Post-Doctoral position is available within the research cluster
“Predicting current and future
human risk of infection with vector-borne pathogens in the Northeast and
the US” at the University at Albany, SUNY, Department of Atmospheric and
Environmental Sciences. This position will involve climate data
analytics and computer-based modeling of climate effects on vector
biology and disease spread.


Candidates should have a record of scientific rigor, creativity, and
ability to work both independently
and as part of an interdisciplinary research team. Excellent
communication and organizational skills

are required.


Preferred qualifications for the position include: experience in
biostatistical analysis of infectious disease

field data in combination with environmental change, background in
climate variability and change,

excellent programming skills in Python, R or an equivalent high-level
programming language.

Ideally, some knowledge of genetic analyses would complement the
climatic/biostatistical skills.

Albany offers a reasonable cost of living, diverse cultural activities

the beautiful Adirondacks, Berkshires and Catskill Mountains: it is an
ideal location for

outdoor activities year round.This is a grant funded position
administered by Health Research Inc.,

The position is available immediately for 1 1/2 years with potential
renewal, depending on funding and

performance. The Post-Doctoral researcher will work at DAES and
collaborate with researchers in the

Arbovirus Laboratory, Wadsworth Center, a division of the New York State
Department of Health,
located in Albany, NY.
