Science Applocations International Corporation (SAIC, http://www.saic.com) is seeking a SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMMER/ANALYST to support the Hydrological Sciences Laboratory at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.   Successful candidate will participate in exciting research and development of a system for operational hydrological models and data assimilation algorithms, on NASA¹s cutting-edge high performance computing platforms, to study and evaluate the impacts of land models and satellite observations to help improve seasonal forecasts of hydro-climatic extremes, including drought metrics and water/food security indicators.  The candidate will help with statistical analysis and evaluation of the forecasts and modeling system.      

Requires at least an MS in a physical science, civil engineering, or related field, and at least two years of research experience, ideally working with earth system models.   Requires strong statistical analysis background and programming skills in one or more of the following languages or software packages: C/C++, Fortran, R, MATLAB, Python, IDL, and Unix/Linux shell scripting. Also, requires excellent written/oral communication skills and ability to present / publish results.  ArcGIS experience is also preferred.
