Vacancy: W3 Professorship (Physical Geography with focus on Climate
Research) at University of Augsburg (Germany)


University Professor, Faculty of Applied Computer Sciences

The Institute of Geography, Faculty of Applied Computer Sciences,
University of Augsburg invites applications for a position as

University Professor for Physical Geography with focus on Climate Research
(permanent position, level W3, anticipated for summer 2018)

The University of Augsburg is looking for a personality, with an
excellent and internationally visible record in research and teaching.
This includes above average successful acquisitions of third-party funds.

The candidate should have a proven international record in climate
research and should strengthen the University of Augsburg’s profile on
environment, resources and health sciences. A continuing cooperation
with the Environmental Science Center at the University of Augsburg
(WZU), the Environmental Research Station Schneefernerhaus (UFS) and
other research institutions is expected.

An active role in the evolution of the study programs of the BSc and MSc
Geography, Climate and Environmental Studies, Geoinformatics and Global
Change Ecology, as well as the teacher education programs and the
participation in academic administration is expected.

Required qualifications include a university degree, a PhD degree,
teaching experience, and further academic achievements like
post-doctoral and senior scientist experiences (e.g. German
Habilitation), experience as a junior professor or equivalent.

Candidates who will be 52 years of age or older at the time of
appointment can only be considered in case of compelling circumstances
(Art. 10 Abs. 3 Satz 2 BayHSchPG).
