Postdoctoral Scholar on shallow to deep convection transition

Columbia University

We are looking for a postdoctoral research associate interested in the transition between shallow and deep convection and the diurnal cycle of convection using a combination of theory, modeling and observations.

A strong background in atmospheric science is required, with expertise in convection, boundary layer meteorology, tropical meteorology, and climate science. Computational fluency in cloud resolving modeling such as System for Atmospheric Modeling (SAM) would be a plus.

The postdoctoral scholar will work closely with Prof. Pierre Gentine and collaborator Prof. Zhiming Kuang (Harvard).

Please submit electronically as a single PDF: (1) a brief cover letter, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) and the names of three references. Applications can be sent directly to Pierre Gentine, pg2328@columbia.edu

Thanks,

Pierre Gentine
