Columbia University: Cloud Physics Postdoctoral Research ScientistThe Center for Climate Systems Research in the Earth Institute of Columbia University invites applicants for a post-doctoral research appointment with focus in cloud physics. Appointment is full-time for a period of 2-3 years and will be based in the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) office on the Columbia University campus in New York City.
The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will work with a group of modelers and observationalists at NASA GISS and Stony Brook University. The Postdoc Research Scientist will focus on one or two of the following research subject areas: Size-resolved (bin) microphysics scheme development for shallow warm and cold clouds with an emphasis on collision-coalescence; bulk microphysics scheme development for cloud-resolving and climate models with an emphasis on ice nucleation and ice properties; Dynamics-embedded microphysics at the intersection of high-resolution models and observations; Observational constraint of climate model cloud microphysical properties and weather state or regime-based analysis of climate simulations and observations.
Applicants should indicate interest to focus in one or two of the aforementioned research subject areas.
