Please see the attachment or and the link to the job at https://nrel.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/NREL/job/Golden-CO/Solar-Forecasting-Postdoc_R1640 Job Summary NREL provides the Department of Energy, Federal Agencies, and third parties with support in understanding the temporal and spatial variability of renewable energy resources, generation, and loads, today and in the future. Because of the expansion of grid integration activities, and the need for ever more data on solar energy resources, there is a need for a scientist with knowledge of solar irradiance modeling and forecasting, and utility-scale grid operations. This scientist should be capable of working with a wide range of partners within NREL and within the weather and energy communities. Initially this scientist is expected to work with supervision but is expected to rapidly grow to lead NREL’s solar forecasting activities, and develop a position of leadership within the solar energy community in this role. The ideal candidate will be able to develop and apply a range of techniques to validate solar irradiance and solar energy forecasts in support of DOE SuNLaMP and Grid Modernization Lab Consortium projects. The techniques will be implemented in Python for inclusion in NREL's validation suite.
