Research Scientist in inter-regional linkages of the Asian
monsoon (BITMAP project) at the National Centre for Atmospheric
Science / Department of Meteorology, University of Reading, UK|
Full-time, fixed-term for up to 36 months, to start around 1 December 2016.
Salary £29,301-£30,175 per annum
We are seeking to employ a talented researcher to study variability and change in the Indian monsoon and links to higher latitudes in observations and models. These topics are of fundamental importance for understanding the regional climate, for improved water security and planning for extreme climate and weather events.
You will join an international team led by the University of Reading with collaborators in India and Germany as part of a project funded by JPI-Climate and the Belmont forum. You will be responsible for analysing climate models, designing and performing new climate model experiments and publishing the results.
You will have or shortly be expected to achieve:
- A PhD or equivalent in physical or mathematical sciences
- Experience of analysing or running climate models, ideally the Met Office Unified Model
- Strong scientific computing skills
- An understanding of physical processes relating to weather
