Dear List Members
I have a 1-yr postdoc position available on general theme of big data analysis in an environmental health context. There's quite a tight application deadline. Please feel free to forward to others that you think might be interested.
Details and application portal here:
Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work on a project entitled: “A multi-dimensional environment-health risk analysis system for Kazakhstan”. The project is funded via the British Council Institutional Links programme.
We seek applicants holding, or about to attain, a PhD (or equivalent experience) in a numerate or environmental science subject. Experience in the analysis of large datasets is essential and the application of this skill in an environmental science or environmental health context is desirable. The ability to take on a cross-disciplinary challenge is also essential.
Your main role will be the application of "Big Data" analytics (e.g. data mining, machine learning and statistics) to environmental and mortality data to uncover relationships at national and regional levels within Kazakhstan. The results of this analysis will be used to produce evidence-based recommendations to improve environmental health. You will collaborate with the research team in Kazakhstan, who will be constructing a database of quality controlled historical and new observations of the environment and mortality.
You will contribute to project workshops in the UK and Kazakhstan, and will present results at international conferences and produce manucripts for publication.
Closing date for applications: Thursday 15th September 2016
