-- PLEASE POST and DISTRIBUTE -- UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII Post Doctoral Fellowship Opportunity in Paradise. The University of Hawaii Department of Atmospheric Sciences located in Honolulu, Hawaii has an opening for a post doc. The position is part of a Federal and State initiative to improve trajectory and dispersion modeling of the emission plume emanating from the Kilauea volcano. The position is funded at $60,000 annual stipend for two years. Renewal of the position after one year is subject to program review. Since Kilauea has been erupting continuously since 1983, there is a potential that the position will continue after year two as a research position. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in meteorology (or in computer science, with a BS in meteorology). Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in running a dispersion model (e.g., HYSPLIT, CMAQ, or AERMOD, etc.) or high-resolution weather model (e.g., WRF-Chem). Experience in atmospheric chemistry and a demonstrated facility for and an interest in scientific programing are also plusses. To apply, email a CV, and the names and contact information for three supervisory references (telephone and e-mail addresses) to: Professor Steven Businger, firstname.lastname@example.org. The position is open until filled.
