Postdoctoral Position in Atmospheric Circulation Change at UCLA
UCLA Dept. of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences seeks a postdoctoral scholar, supervised by Prof. Alex Hall. The position would begin in the fall of 2016. It would initially be for one year, but is renewable for up to two years, contingent on satisfactory progress.
The general research area is changes in the sub-tropical and mid-latitude atmospheric circulation associated with anthropogenic climate change. Any candidate with interest in this topic is invited to apply. Experience diagnosing mechanisms underpinning variability or anthropogenic changes in atmospheric circulation is critical. Experience analyzing output from global climate model simulations such as those in the CMIP5 archive is also desirable. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences or a related field, effective oral and written communication skills, and strong programming and analytical skills.
Applicants should submit (1) a statement of research interests and goals, no longer than one page, and (2) a complete CV, including contact information for three references. These materials should be addressed to Ms. Katharine Reich at firstname.lastname@example.org. Consideration of applications will begin in August 2016 and continue until the position is filled. UCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. All qualified applicants, including women and minorities, are encouraged to apply.
