The Natural Hazards Team of SCOR (https://www.scor.com/) is looking for an Intern for 12 months:
As Trainee, you will
· Help us better understand North Atlantic hurricane risk, especially hurricane rates
· Help us interrogate approaches used in commercially available catastrophe modelling software
· Evaluate our current approaches and work with team members to devise an appropriate representation of risk
· Work closely with other members of the catastrophe team to provide exhibits, presentations and papers related primarily to hurricane risk
· Be trained in basic reinsurance and operationalize your work translating it into pricing for the coming renewals
You have a Master’s (ideally PhD) degree in a Meteorology (ideally with a focus on Tropical Meteorology) with a strong quantitative background and you want to start a career in the reinsurance sector. You possess strong analytical skills and are able to explain technical concepts precisely and concisely. You have both excellent organizational and IT-user skills. Experience with a programming language such as R or Matlab is essential. Your English is excellent, German or French is an asset. Reliability, self-motivation and willingness to learn are essential. You are a team-player with a diligent approach, as well as a sense of humour. You follow through tasks, seek guidance to complete tasks and you are motivated to work in a multinational team.
This is a full time position based in Zurich, which is available as of July 2016, with a duration of 12 months. For this internship you will be employed via an external agency.
