** PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry Modelling ** Applications are now open for a fully-funded PhD studentship in atmospheric chemistry at the University of Lancaster. The successful candidate will develop and apply a state-of-the-art global atmospheric model to examine the atmospheric fate of so-called halogenated very short-lived substances (VSLS). Model simulations, combined with the analysis of atmospheric observations, will be used to (i) understand and quantify recent growth in the atmospheric loading of VSLS, (ii) derive estimates of regional and global VSLS emissions and (iii) quantify the impact of VSLS on atmospheric composition. A focus will be to assess the role of VSLS in air quality issues and the recovery of Earth's ozone layer. ---- Full details of the project and how to apply are attached. The studentship is open to UK/EU candidates. Funding covers UK/EU tuition fees and a stipend (tax free). The position will remain open until filled. An October 2016 start date is anticipated. Supervisors: Dr Ryan Hossaini (Lancaster), Dr Oliver Wild (Lancaster), Prof Lucy Carpenter (York), Prof Martyn Chipperfield (Leeds) and Dr Chris Wilson (Leeds). --- Contact Dr Ryan Hossaini (email@example.com) for further details.
