[Met-jobs] PhD position in Meteorology at the Geophysical Institute, University of Bergen

From Thomas Spengler <Thomas.Spengler@uib.no>
Date Fri, 13 May 2016 17:55:33 +0200

Dear colleagues,

There is a vacancy for a PhD position in Meteorology at the Geophysical Institute, University of Bergen (UiB). The position is for a fixed-term period of 4 years. I would greatly appreciated if you could post this information and/or inform potential candidates at your department about this opportunity.

About the project/work tasks:
The PhD project will focus on air-sea interaction processes with emphasis on the mechanisms acting on the temporal and spatial scales from fronts to synoptic storms. The strong sea surface temperature gradients along the ocean currents such as the Gulf Stream and Kuroshio strongly influence the atmosphere, in particular low-level baroclinicity and frontal interactions between the ocean and atmosphere. However, our fundamental understanding of the direct and indirect influences of sea surface temperature gradients and fronts on the atmosphere remains limited.

The full position announcement, qualifications, and application procedure can be found via the link below:

Deadline for application is 5 June!

Best regards,
Thomas
