Job Opportunity: Communications Officer at NCAS Leeds Location: University of Leeds - Main Campus Faculty/Service: Faculty of Environment School/Institute: School of Earth and Environment Salary: £21,605 to £25,023 per annum Contract Type: Fixed Term (12 months) Closing Date: Sunday 22 May 2016 Interview Date: Wednesday 01 June 2016 Reference: ENVEE1113 As NCAS Communications Officer, you will work as part of the communications team within the headquarters of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), based at the University of Leeds. You will contribute towards the overall aim of promoting the science and facilities of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science to its target audiences and stakeholders, including the general public, media, funding bodies and the government. Working with the NCAS Communications Manager, you will assist with reviewing and editing written documents and media from across the NCAS science and facilities and will source and edit web content including the publication of news stories, blogs and features. You will act as a first point of contact for media enquiries and will assist with writing press releases, briefing notes and Q & A documents. You will have the ability to clearly communicate often complex information to a wide range of audiences, often working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You will have well developed organisational skills, with an ability to prioritise a complex, diverse and varied work load. With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you will have the ability to confidently and proactively interact with a diverse range of people. Your role will involve a high degree of autonomy so it is essential that you take a proactive approach to work, demonstrating personal responsibility with good use of initiative. NCAS is not based in one location but distributed across many UK universities and related institutions. This post forms part of the NCAS operational team and is based at the University of Leeds.
