UNIVERSITÄT HOHENHEIM INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS AND METEOROLOGY The Chair of Physics and Meteorology Postdoc (TV L E13) position for 25 months available at the Institute of Physics and Meteorology (IPM), University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany in a project with the objective to investigate and quantify feedback processes between the atmosphere and the soil-vegetation system in a changing climate. In this project a coupled atmosphere-land surface-crop model is applied over Central Europe with convection-permitting resolution. It is expected that at this scale land surface atmosphere feedback over heterogeneous and agricultural landscapes will be better represented and their coupling to clouds and precipitation will be more realistic as the parameterisation of deep convection can be avoided. This will be proven by detailed model verification including scores for extreme value statistics of temperature and precipitation. The successful candidate will apply the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model at very high resolution as part of the integrated land system model system, which is developed within the project. The objective is to analyze the results with respect to land-atmosphere interaction in agricultural landscapes and to the effects of land surface heterogeneity using new model diagnostics. Please see the attachment for full details.
