Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty II - Centre of Astronomy and
Astrophysics
Research assistant (PhD position) - 0.75 working time, 3 years - salary
grade E 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen
Reference number: II-136/16

Working field:
The project will extend existing climate and photochemical processes in
a numerical column model of the atmosphere in order to simulate hot
Super-Earth atmospheres (e.g. primary (H2-He); steam; CO2-dominated) for
extrasolar planets orbiting cool host stars. These objects are at the
cutting edge of atmospheric characterization in exoplanet science. The
work involves close collaboration with colleagues at DLR-Institute for
Remote Sensing who will simultaneously develop theoretical models which
calculate atmospheric spectral appearance and parameter retrieval, and
DLR Institute for Planetary Research who develop models on exoplanet
atmospheric chemistry.

Requirements:
Successful candidates must have completed a university degree (Diplom,
Master or equivalent) in physics; a strong background in atmospheric
physics/chemistry and knowledge of scientific-based programming
(preferably in FORTRAN); experience in the handling and visualization
of large data sets in a UNIX environment.

More Information can be obtained from Prof. Dr. Rauer (heike.rauer@dlr.de)

How to apply:
Please send your written application and the usual documents (application
letter, cv (including publication list), names of people who can be contacted
for a letter of recommendation) to

Frau Prof. Rauer (heike.rauer@dlr.de) or to claudia.kieschke@tu-berlin.de.
Closing date: April 15, 2016
