Hello, Applications are now open for a fully-funded PhD studentship in atmospheric chemistry at the University of York. The project is available in the Chemistry Department under the supervision of Dr Ryan Hossaini and Prof Lucy Carpenter. The successful candidate will develop and apply a state-of-the-art global atmospheric model to examine the atmospheric fate of so-called halogenated very short-lived substances (VSLS). Model simulations, combined with the analysis of atmospheric observations, will be used to (i) understand and quantify recent growth in the atmospheric loading of VSLS, (ii) derive estimates of regional and global VSLS emissions and (iii) quantify the impact of VSLS on atmospheric composition. A focus will be to assess the role of VSLS in air quality issues and the recovery of Earth's ozone layer. Full details of the project and how to apply can be found here: http://www.york.ac.uk/chemistry/postgraduate/research/phdopps/uk/ The project is open to UK/EU candidates. The position will remain open until filled. Contact Ryan Hossaini (email@example.com) or Lucy Carpenter (firstname.lastname@example.org) for further details. Best regards, Ryan Hossaini
