[Met-jobs] Position at HU Berlin: Urban climate observation campaign, particulate matter

Pending approval of external funding, the Faculty of Mathematics and
Natural Sciences, Department of Geography of the Humboldt University
Berlin invites applications for a scientist position (100%, temporary
for 3 years) starting earliest June 1st, 2016. Salary is according to
German state wage agreement for scientific staff (E13 TV-L HU). After
all social security and tax deductions annual net salary ranges between
28.000 and 32.000 EUR depending on social status.

The successful applicant will work in a national initiative developing
and evaluating a microscale urban climate model. The task will be to
jointly carry out an intensive observation campaign on urban climate in
Berlin and Stuttgart with a special focus on particulate matter.
Further, his or her task will include developing land use based
statistical models for regionalisation.

Applicants must hold a MSc or PhD in geography or neighbouring fields
with core area in either physical geography, computer sciences,
meteorology, physics, mathematics, engineering or similar. Ample
knowledge of urban climate and measurement technologies as well as
programming experience are prerequisites. Experience with the operation
of databases is advantageous.
