The Meteorological Institute at the University of Bonn

invites applications for a

3 year PhD position (75% E13 TV-L) in the project HD(CP)2 (High Definition 
Clouds and Precipitation for Climate Prediction), starting April 1, 2016. 

Job description:

Within HD(CP)2, the subproject on ‚Cloud and Convective Organisation’ 
investigates convective organization in high and low-resolution versions of the 
HD(CP)2 model (ICON-LES and ICON-NWP). Project aim is to understand the 
dynamics of convective organization including convective moist flow balances, 
and the impacts of subsynoptic-scale organization on the synoptic-scale flow.

Requirements:

Applicants should have a Master of Science or equivalent in geosciences or 
physics, preferably in dynamical meteorology or atmospheric physics. We expect 
strong interest in theoretical meteorology and mesoscale atmospheric dynamics.
