Dear colleagues.

We have an open 4-year PhD position in physical oceanography at the Geophysical Institute, University of Bergen. The position is part of the project "Overturning in the Nordic Seas". The overall objective of the project is to study the coupled ocean-atmosphere climate system in the Nordic Seas, a region that is of critical importance to the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation but very sensitive to climate change. The objective will be achieved primarily through processing and analysis of existing and new data sets as well as numerical modelling and theoretical constraints. The observations are moored and shipboard measurements of velocity, hydrography, and geochemical tracers as well as hydrographic profiles from autonomous gliders and floats. The processes of interest include open ocean convection, boundary current dynamics, and oceanic response to atmospheric forcing. Please see the advertisement below for additional details.

Thank you very much for sharing the information with potential candidates.

Best regards,
Kjetil Våge.
