Postdoctoral position in climate modeling at the Purdue Climate Change
Research Center (PCCRC)

The Purdue Climate Change Research Center (PCCRC) seeks to hire a
postdoctoral scientist to provide climate modeling support for the
Indiana Climate Change Impacts Assessment. This assessment intends to
provide usable information to decision makers about a broad range of
potential climate impacts for agricultural productivity, public health,
infrastructure, natural hazards, and more. In addition to helping shape
the scope of the assessment, a main responsibility for the position is
to dynamically downscale global climate model simulations to provide
high-resolution forecasts for use in climate change impacts studies.

Under the direction of the Director of the Purdue Climate Change
Research Center, the successful candidate will take input from the PCCRC
research community and other stakeholders, design and conduct
limited-domain high-resolution simulations, and provide on a continuing
basis support for the analysis, archival, dissemination, and use of the
resulting data products. It is expected that s/he will also develop
projects and data analysis products that will lead to authorship or
co-authorship on publications, and to the submission of collaborative
grant proposals. Throughout the assessment process, the postdoctoral
scientist will interact extensively with faculty, research staff,
computational support staff, graduate students, undergraduates, and
various external stakeholders, being responsive to their needs, and
helping to provide solutions to their problems.

Interested applicants should submit a brief statement of interest and
career goals, CV, the names and contact information of three references,
and a sample publication to pccrc@purdue.edu with the subject line 2015
PCCRC Postdoctoral Position. Questions about the position can be
directed to PCCRC Director Jeff Dukes (<jsdukes@purdue.edu>). The priority
deadline for applications is December 4, 2015 but the position will
remain open until filled.

The appointment is for one year with possible renewal for one additional
year. A background check will be required for employment in this position.

Purdue University is an Equal Opportunity/Equal Access/Affirmative
Action Employer fully committed to achieving a diverse workforce.

Sincerely,
Melissa Widhalm
