Assistant Professor of Atmospheric Science, University of Kansas

The Department of Geography and Atmospheric Science at the University of
Kansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor
position in atmospheric science. The successful candidate will be
expected to develop an externally funded research program that will
complement existing strengths of the department, including boundary
layer processes, remote sensing, mesoscale processes, and regional
climate variability. In addition, the faculty member will be expected to
publish their results in the peer-reviewed literature, develop and teach
courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, direct theses and
dissertations, serve on graduate student committees, perform advising
responsibilities, and serve on Departmental, College, and University
committees. Teaching expectations include courses in synoptic and
dynamic meteorology, and weather forecasting. Refer to <www.geog.ku.edu>

The appointment is expected to begin as early as August 18, 2016. A
Ph.D. or ABD in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a related
discipline is expected by the start date of the appointment. Qualified
candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach beginning and advanced
courses in atmospheric science, and the potential for excellence in
research, evidenced by publications in highly ranked journals.
