The infrastructure is built up as a collaboration of nationally operated measurement stations in 17 European countries. ICOS Sweden (http://www.icos-sweden.se) is the Swedish contribution to this European effort. SITES - Swedish Infrastructure for Ecosystem Science, is a national coordinated infrastructure for terrestrial and limnological field research (www.fieldsites.se). SITES contributes to the strengthening of Swedish research based on measurements and experiments conducted in the field and is available for all researchers on equal terms, regardless of affiliation. SITES consists of nine research stations in Sweden and SLU is the host and coordinator of SITES.
