The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Department of Geography
at Humboldt University, Berlin, invites applications for a scientist
(temporary for 3 years) from October 1st, 2015. Salary is according to
German state wage agreement for scientific staff (E13 TV-L HU). After
all social security and tax deductions annual net salary ranges between
28.000 and 32.000 EUR depending on social status. The working contract
can eventually be extended.

The successful applicant’s task is to experimentally advance studies in
the field of urban climates and air quality with a special focus on
temporal and spatial analysis of particulate matter and ultrafine
particles and its impact on humans and the environment. The work is
expected to be placed in scientific and international contexts. We
expect that the candidate aims at scientific qualification in the named
field of science. The position includes a teaching obligation of 4 hours
per week during each winter and summer term’s lecturing period and
further contribution to the overall assignments of the working group.

Applicants must hold a master degree in Geography or neighboring fields
with core area in either physical geography, environmental sciences,
meteorology, medical science, natural sciences, engineering, computer
sciences or similar fields. Experience with experimental work in urban
climatology, technical and manual skills as well as excellent mastery of
English in both written and oral form are required. Sufficient knowledge
of German language and experience in computer programming are
advantageous. The position is intended for a postdoc aiming at
habilitation but may also be filled with a post-graduate with the
intention of working on a dissertation thesis.
