Lecturer in Statistical Science (Education and Research)

College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences

 

The University of Exeter seeks outstanding candidates for a full-time permanent Lectureship in Statistical Science, jointly funded by the nearby Met Office.

 

The successful candidate will be a member of the Statistical Science team in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. In addition to developing their own excellent research and teaching activities, the lecturer will have an unprecedented opportunity for developing research impact by working at least 2 days/week with applied weather scientists at the Met Office to provide valuable statistical advice and training.

 

We are seeking applicants having experience, enthusiasm, and ability to deliver excellence in statistical research and teaching. Applicants should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in statistics and provide evidence of high-quality published research in statistics. Applicants should be enthusiastic communicators with successful experience of teaching ( undergraduate and postgraduate courses) and consultancy with weather services or other related industries.

 

Combining world class research with very high levels of student satisfaction we are a member of the Russell Group and now have over 19,000 students. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) Exeter was ranked 16th nationally with 98% of its research rated as being of international quality. We are ranked 7th in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide league table, 10th in The Complete University Guide and 12th in the Guardian University Guide.
