I have a post available at the moment that would suit someone with good data
analysis skills and an eye for a challenge! Here's the ad:

Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work on our new
project entitled: “A multi-dimensional environment-health risk analysis system
for Kazakhstan”. The project is funded via the British Council Institutional
Links programme.

We seek applicants holding, or about to attain, a PhD or equivalent level
qualification in a numerate or environmental science subject. Experience in the
analysis of large datasets is essential and the application of this skill in an
environmental science or environmental health context is desirable. The ability
to take on a cross-disciplinary challenge is also essential.

Your main role will be the application of "Big Data" analytics (e.g. data
mining, machine learning and statistics) to environment and mortality data to
uncover relationships at national and regional levels within Kazakhstan. The
results of this analysis will be used to produce evidence-based recommendations
to improve environmental health. You will collaborate with the research team in
Kazakhstan, who will be constructing a database of quality controlled
historical and new observations of the environment and mortality.

You will contribute to project workshops in the UK and Kazakhstan, present
results at international conferences and produce manuscripts for publication.

Informal enquires may be addressed to Dr Andrew Russell, e-mail:
