Forwarded from CLIMLIST... Two Ph. D. Positions in land-Surface Fluxes at Washington State University (WSU), Pullman, USA We are seeking two energetic and motivated Ph. D. students beginning in August 2015 to join us to conduct research in micrometeorology and land-climate interactions in the Laboratory for Atmospheric Research (LAR), Washington State University (WSU), Pullman, Washington. Applicants should have strong background in atmospheric sciences, physics, hydrology, ecology, or related fields. A quantitative/programming skills and previous field experience are desired. The students will work on quantifying surface energy, water, and carbon budgets over different ecosystems by applications of eddy covariance techniques. One student will closely work a multi-disciplinary team of scientists at WSU and the Pacific Northwest National Lab (PNNL) in micrometeorology, land-climate interactions, land surface modeling, hydrology, biogeochemistry, and microbiology to understand effects of variations in the hydrologic cycle and climate change on coupled hydrologic and biogeochemical processes in the groundwater-surface water interaction zone, and their impacts on local to regional scale land-atmosphere interactions and climate using observations and models. The full research assistantship includes stipend, tuition, and health insurance.
