Senior Developer

Fugro Intersite has an opening for a dynamic Senior Developer to support 
Fugro’s Metocean Business Line requirements.  The primary role will be to 
support development of a flagship web presentation system that provides a 
Common Operating Picture to our clients for a diverse range of dynamic and 
static data.    

The Company
The company specialises in providing oceanographic and meteorological services 
to the Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy sector and the role will involve 
developing new features to enhance their flagship web GIS data delivery 
product.  The product provides on-demand access to data to support critical 
24/7 engineering operations.  Data include near real-time measurements from 
globally-deployed instrumentation, 4-dimensional spatial models and weather 

Be part of our success

The successful candidate must have 5+ year commercial experience of developing 
client / server applications using C#.Net and web services development (ideally 
RESTful web services) and WCF development.  

The successful developer will work in an agile environment.   The individual 
should be self motivated, an independent worker and delivery oriented, whilst 
working in both the team environment and individually.  

The role would include the following activities:-
•       Design and implement solutions against user stories through 
distillation into work tasks.
•       Test driven development within sprints.
•       Communication within local teams and with the wider Fugro development 
•       Provision of  support/solutions to users
Position requirements
•       5+ years Proven delivery of software development within a web-centric 
•       5+ years experience of MS .NET (C#).
•       Clear, demonstrable, understanding of object oriented principles.
•       Ability to understand complex problems and break them down into logical 
•       2+ years Agile experience
•       Competency in the following technologies / techniques is required.
Entity framework
Working knowledge of HTTP
Understanding of RESTful interfaces     Git
SQL Server
TDD Mocking

•       Experience with responsive design / HTML 5 utilizing Bootstrap, 
AngularJS, Backbone or similar technologies.
•       Some experience with installation, configuration of production server 
environments such as TomCat, NGinX, JBoss or other.
•       Understanding of MVC /MVVM design patterns.
•       Strong knowledge and experience with creating APIs via WCF, Web API or 
other web service framework.
•       Knowledge of the following would be an advantage; HTML, CSS, JavaScript 
(Dojo toolkit), nodeJS, asynchronous processing, PostgresSQL, GIS, OGC

•       Must be a motivated individual who can work alone and as part of a team.
•       Ability to find new innovative solutions to existing and new problems.
•       Ability to adapt to a change as and when required.
•       Ability to produce project reports and estimates.
•       Ability to work well under pressure.

The role is based in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, but occasional travel to other 
Fugro offices may be required.
