The Brunsell lab in the Department of Geography at The University of
Kansas seeks a full time Research Assistant to support the Konza
Ameriflux core site for analysis of carbon, water, and energy fluxes in
relation to land cover and climate variability. The position will
collect, analyze and process data, including eddy covariance instrument
calibration and maintenance, and vegetative and soil sample collection
and analysis, statistical analysis and comparison of the data with the
output from numerical models.



Job Duties:

90%-The applicant will be responsible for carrying out collection of
field data, analyzing and processing of data to ensure data quality, as
well as writing and presenting research results at conferences and in
the peer reviewed literature. This will include, but not be limited to,
eddy covariance instrument calibration and maintenance, and vegetative
and soil sample collection and analysis, statistical analysis and
comparison of the data with the output from numerical models.

10%-Performing general laboratory tasks, such as placing orders,
arranging for repair of malfunctioning equipment, etc.

Required Qualifications:

Evaluation of the following requirements will be made through (1)
records of accomplishment entered into CVs, (2) descriptions of research
and educational experiences provided in application materials, (3)
references, and (4) publications, if available.

1.Master's degree in geography, atmospheric science, ecology or related
field.

Preferred Qualifications:

1.Previous experience working with eddy covariance systems

2.Previous experience with computer models and statistical analysis

3.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

4.Ability to work well with other members of the laboratory, including
the Principle Investigator
