[Met-jobs] Open: Postdoctoral positions at the Columbia Water Center, New York
Postdoctoral Fellowships Available
The Columbia Water Center has three immediate openings for post doctoral fellows, to work on projects that are just starting. The appointments will be for 2 to 3 years. The skills we are looking for are in the following areas:
- Numerical and statistical modeling of hydrologic and climatic systems. Experience with Hierarchical Bayesian models, machine learning concepts, and working in R and Matlab required.
- Water/Natural resource economics and modeling of complex systems. Skills in developing large, spatially explicit, complex system models linking human behavior, resource and infrastructure systems, including climate, water, energy and agriculture desirable.
- Risk Analysis with water quantity and quality in mining and energy systems. Familiarity with hydrologic and water quality aspects of mines highly desirable. Skills in risk analysis, Bayesian Networks, Hidden Markov Models and spatial processes, as well
as exposure to natural language processing and machine learning desirable.
- Reservoir optimization using stochastic streamflow and demand forecasts. Experience with large scale multi-objective optimization and reservoir modeling is a must.
