Applications are invited for a pre-doctoral appointee position at the Argonne National Laboratory. The position is for 2 years initially, with a possible extension of one year based on performance. The position is expected to begin in October, 2014 and the review of the applications will begin immediately. The project’s goal is to study the wind flow over complex terrain using data collected by boundary layer remote sensors. The candidate is expected to actively participate in the field campaign and assist in operating and analyzing data from instruments like the Radar Wind Profiler (RWP), Sodar and Doppler Lidar. We will then use advanced retrieval techniques to translate the observed engineering parameters into usable meteorological parameters. The successful candidate will have a M.S. in atmospheric or related sciences, preferably with prior experience in data analysis of relevant observations. Candidates with a B.S. degree in atmospheric sciences or related field with two or more years of experience are also encouraged to apply. Application for this opportunity must be submitted through the Argonne Careers website http://www.anl.gov/careers. Use Requisition Number 322479.
