Forwarded from CLIMLIST... PhD position in Paleoclimate Modeling. The department of Geoscience at the University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks PhD applicants for an NSF-supported research project to investigate past climate sensitivity to changes in high-latitude freshwater forcing. Research topics to explore include using climate models to understand how global ocean circulation is influenced by glacial meltwater floods, iceberg calving, and sea ice export events. The candidate should have a strong numerical background, be familiar with FORTRAN and Matlab/IDL, and have a background in Oceanography, Mathematics, Climatology, and/or Earth Sciences. The successful student will join a vibrant and expanding paleoclimate modeling group based in the departments Climate System Research Center (see <www.paleoclimate.org>). Initial funding is guaranteed for 3 years from the start of the position. For further information please contact Dr. Alan Condron (<email@example.com>) or Dr. Raymond Bradley (<firstname.lastname@example.org>). -- Dr. Alan Condron Climate System Research Center University of Massachusetts Amherst www.geo.umass.edu/faculty/condron
