Forwarded from CLIMLIST... The group for land-climate dynamics (<http://www.iac.ethz.ch/groups/seneviratne/>) at the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Sciences, ETH Zürich has several openings for positions within the ERC Consolidator Grant DROUGHT-HEAT project. For the first phase of the project we are seeking two PhD candidates (3 years) and a Data Manager (4 years). The PhD positions will address the following main research questions: PhD 1: How sensitive are ecosystems to (soil moisture) drought, how do these relationships vary in space and time, and what are the resulting impacts on moisture, energy and carbon fluxes, and the atmosphere? PhD 2: How sensitive are temperature extremes to land surface conditions, including soil moisture levels, evaporative fraction, albedo and land cover type? More details on the PhD positions, as well as on-line application is available at: <https://pub.refline.ch//845721/3146/++publications++/1/index.html/> The responsibilities of the Data Manager will cover the support of scientists in the acquisition, preparation, archiving and administration of data for the DROUGHT-HEAT project as well as the development of web-presentations of project related results. We are looking for a scientific programmer/information scientist/environmental scientist/geographer/meteorologist (or equivalent) with a strong background in the archiving and manipulating of large environmental and climate data. More details on the Data Manager position, as well as on-line application is available at: <https://pub.refline.ch//845721/3145/++publications++/1/index.html/> For further information please contact Prof. Dr. Sonia Seneviratne (<http://www.iac.ethz.ch/people/sonia/>; Phone: +41 44 632 80 76; E-Mail: email@example.com)
