Interdisciplinary post doc position

Institute of Biology and Institute of Computing

University of Campinas, SP, Brazil

We seek for a highly motivated young researcher to join the project
aiming at investigating tipping points in tropical South American
ecosystems. The successful candidate will work on bringing together the
gaps between data analysis and conceptual/complex models in the context
of multiple states within tropical South America. A close interaction
with the interdisciplinary groups (computer sciences, dynamical systems,
climatology, remote sensing, field ecology) is foreseen. The project is
funded by Microsoft Research Institute and FAPESP (São Paulo Research
Foundation).

REQUIREMENTS:

- PhD in Ecology, Meteorology, Geosciences or related fields;

- Experience with ecology of South American biomes (savannas and forests);

- Good knowledge of climate-vegetation interactions within the tropics;

- Programming skills (Matlab, R and others) are welcomed, but not essential;

- Good knowledge of the English language (skills in Portuguese are
welcomed);

DURATION: the position is offered for two years, starting as soon as
possible.

SALARY: R$ 5,900.00 (Brazilian Reais) which is equivalent to ca. US$
2,500.00.
