Forwarded from CLIMLIST... PostDoc position in chemistry-climate modeling PMOD/WRC is offering a PostDoc position within the project “Study of factors influencing ozone layer evolution (SILA)” funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The main goal of this project is to study the ozone layer behavior during the recent decade and define the spectral solar irradiance dataset which gives the best agreement between the simulated and measured data. We will also analyze the causes of a strong ozone increase observed in August 2004, the anomalous Arctic ozone decrease during winter 2011, and the ozone depletion after the major Sudden Stratospheric Warming in January 2009. PostDoc will apply the chemistry-climate model SOCOL to simulate the climate and ozone layer behavior, analyze the results, compare them with observations and prepare publications. The candidate should hold PhD in physics, mathematics, environmental, earth sciences or engineering. The candidate should further have deep interest in the modeling of physical or chemical processes in the atmosphere at all scales or some experience in numerical climate and chemistry modeling. Good knowledge of mathematical fundamentals, FORTRAN-95, Unix Shell-scripting, IDL or other visualization packages will be required.Fluency in English is essential. The position should be filled by July 2014. The project duration is 1 year. Please send your application including a statement of interest, transcripts, CV, publication list, and contact information of at least two referees (preferably as a single pdf-file) to Eugene Rozanov by email (firstname.lastname@example.org <mailto:email@example.com>). For informal enquiries concerning this position, please, contact Dr. Eugene Rozanov (+41 81 4175135). The review of applications will start in April 2014. Dr. Eugene Rozanov PMOD/WRC Dorfstrassse, 33, Davos Dorf, Switzerland
