MARINE METEOROLOGIST

 

The National Center of Meteorology and Seismology, the national weather service of the United Arab Emirates, is looking for a qualified marine meteorological forecaster to join our team in Abu Dhabi.

The marine meteorologist will undertake the provision of meteorological forecast services for the waters of the United Arab Emirates. The meteorologist will have previous experience with the

production of marine wind and sea state forecasts and warnings. The meteorologist will have previous experience with the briefing of mariners with regards to meteorological conditions. The

meteorologist will have previous experience working in a deadline driven fast paced environment.

 

Required Education and Training:  

Must  hold a Bachelor of Science degree.

A minimum of 5 years experience as a Marine Meteorologist.

 

Preferred attributes:

Exposure to modern meteorological weather workstations, specifically the IBL weather workstation.

Training from a National Weather Service in marine forecasting.

Has briefed and interacted with a multicultural client base.

Has managed several subordinates in a multicultural environment.

Is familiar with the WRF atmospheric numerical model.

Is familiar with the climate of the Arabian Gulf region.

Familiar with Quality Management Systems
