Atmospheric Modeller    
Permanent position based near Reading
Our Client is the world's leading supplier of meteorological and oceanographic 
(metocean) services for 
offshore and coastal engineering applications. Operating on a global basis with 
offices in UK, USA, 
UAE, Malaysia, Norway, Singapore and Australia, they offer metocean solutions 
through cost-effective, 
high quality and technically advanced measurement, consultancy, information 
systems, forecasting services 
and specialised structural engineering.

Our Client has an opening in its Consultancy division as a result of increasing 
workload and strategic growth. 
The Consultancy team analyses and interprets meteorological and oceanographic 
(metocean) data and 
combines knowledge with its specialist expertise to provide the best possible 
information to clients in the 
offshore, coastal engineering and renewable energy sectors.

The chosen individual will be a core member of their dynamic consultancy 
modelling team supporting their 
global client base. The role would include the following activities:-
•       Develop regional implementations of WRF and its derivatives
•       Validate and refine models
•       Deploy models to support hindcast activity and forecast activity
•       Publish data sets in standard formats such as those utilised by 
NCEP/ECMWF

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have
• Experience of atmospheric modelling in a research or commercial environment
• A strong background working in Linux/Unix including shell scripting
• Ability to select appropriate model domains, physical parameterisations, 
resolution to appropriately characterise regional meteorology
• Highly resourceful with strong problem solving instincts
• Good interaction with wave and hydrodynamic modellers
• Ability to communicate modelling to data users and clients
