Indiana University-Bloomington invites applications for two faculty
positions in the Atmospheric Sciences program in the Department of
Geological Sciences to begin Fall Semester 2014. We seek exceptional
candidates who will complement our current departmental expertise in
atmospheric science and integrate with existing research strengths in
hydrology, geophysics, geomorphology, earth history, and climate change.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in atmospheric science or
highly related discipline. While searching broadly in atmospheric
sciences, areas of preferred expertise include dynamic meteorology,
hydrometeorology, atmospheric fluid dynamics, large-scale atmospheric
processes, atmospheric thermodynamics, and climate dynamics. We
anticipate hiring at least one person in the general area of dynamic
meteorology (fluid dynamics) with a strong background in applied
mathematics and numerical methods. The successful applicants are
expected to develop a strong, externally funded program, to supervise
research by graduate and undergraduate students, and to teach
undergraduate courses in atmospheric science.

Access to Indiana University’s exceptional computing resources will be
provided at no cost to aid the successful candidate in pursuing an
independent, externally funded research program. Other campus resources
include extensive instrumentation, GIS and remote sensing facilities,
and a premiere geological field station available for research and
advanced training of students and professionals. Active collaboration
within and outside of the department is desirable and encouraged. The
Department of Geological Sciences offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degree
programs in Atmospheric Science, in addition to a Ph.D. minor in
Sustainable Energy Science. Interested candidates should review the
application requirements and submit their application at:

Questions regarding the position or application process can be directed
to: Professor Greg Olyphant (<olyphant@indiana.edu>). Indiana University
is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer; women and
minorities are especially encouraged to apply.

Review of applications will begin December 1, 2013
