Climate Change and Sustainable Development Economics
1 Research Position

Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM, a leading research institute on sustainable development - www.feem.it) and the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC, a research institution that manages and promotes scientific and applied activities in the field of international climate change research – www.cmcc.it) aim to recruiting motivated and talented researchers to cover one open position on climate change and sustainable development economics.

The selected applicant will join the FEEM Research Programme on Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CCSD), or the CMCC Research Division on Climate Impacts and Policy (CIP). These research branches carry out high level research on climate change economics, climate change integrated assessment modelling, climate change policy and governance, climate-related innovation and technological change, natural hazards and extreme climate-related events, management of natural resources, sustainability and growth beyond GDP.


Requirements
Candidates should have a Ph.D. or be PhD candidates in economics with a focus on economic growth and political economy. Experience in conducting applied economic research using both empirical and numerical methods is requested. The applicant will join a project that aims at advancing the modeling of the role of institutions and interest groups in decision-making processes related to global climate change policies. His/Her main task will be to connect numerical integrated assessment models of climate change with the political economy literature on the role of institutions and interest groups.

FEEM and CMCC offer a truly interdisciplinary workplace and have strong ties to a worldwide network of research institutions engaged in environmental research. Selected applicants will interact with researchers of different nationalities and have the opportunity to present scientific papers at a number of conferences and workshops.
The selected applicant is expected to begin his/her assignment in January 2014. The initial appointment is for 12 months and can be renewed up to 3 years. Gross salary is competitive and will be based on qualification and experience. Research will be carried out at the FEEM or CMCC premises in Milan or in Venice, Italy.

Deadline for applications
FEEM and CMCC will begin considering candidates immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Please submit your application at your earliest convenience and no later than November 30th, 2013. This deadline could be postponed if the position has not yet been filled.
