Job Title: Renewable Energy Forecasting Analyst in Bristol – UK

The position is an entry level post in the GLGH’s global Forecasting team which 
provides short term predictions of wind and solar power production to plant 
owners and operators. Training and guided professional development will be 
provided to enable the candidate to grow with this expanding business area.
Principle purpose of the role is to work within the existing analyst team on 
setting up and maintaining forecasting services, assessing their accuracy, 
refining forecast performance and investigating new modelling methods.

Principle accountabilities:

  *   Designing and delivering highly accurate and reliable forecasting 
services for energy traders, grid regulators and plant operators
  *   Producing forecast performance reports
  *   Contacting clients to understand their requirements and ensure they are 
met by our service
  *   Researching and developing new modelling methods
  *   Attending workshops and meetings to discuss wind/solar energy 
forecasting, and promote GLGH’s forecasting services
  *   Assisting with the commercial and marketing aspects of the business

  *   A minimum of a 2.1 degree in maths, meteorology, physics, computer 
science or engineering
  *   Strong analytical skills and innovative thinking
  *   Excellent organisational and communication skills and able to work within 
a multi-disciplinary team
  *   Aptitude for statistical analysis of data
  *   Ability to compose clear and accurate reports in English
  *   Effective time management skills as you will be required to handle 
multiple projects simultaneously
  *   Ability to work in a pressurised consultancy environment operating to 
  *   Professional proficiency in English s

·         Experience of software coding – specifically C#, Matlab and/or SQL
·         Experience of statistical modelling methods
·         A good understanding of UK weather patterns
·         Experience of running NWP models

Additional Information

  *   37.5 per week – Monday to Friday.  Hours are flexible with starting times 
between 8.00 am – 9.30 am.  Working day is 8.5 hours less 1 hour for lunch.


  *   Positions will require some travel for client meetings, conferences and 


  *   Full training will be provided.  Garrad Hassan has an accredited MPDS 
training scheme with the IMechE and supports membership of other similar 
professional institutions.
