Earth observation provides a unique perspective of our planet and, especially when combined with data from in situ sensors and models, is a powerful tool for observing and understanding our environment. Created in 2008, the NERC National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) undertakes a world class programme of strategic research to improve our understanding of how the planet works and to enable better predictions of how the environment will change. NCEO is one of the Natural Environment Research Council's (NERC) six research centres; these centres sustain national capability in NERC's core science disciplines and facilitate research in the wider community. NERC is looking for a new Director with a vision to lead the next phase of NCEO and develop a high impact portfolio of research that will address long-term Science Grand Challenges and provide the key science infrastructure needed to deliver NERC's strategic objectives. Please see http://www.nerc.ac.uk/nceodirector/ for details.
