Research Fellow in Dust Uplift from Boundary-Layer Processes

An exciting opportunity at the Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science
(ICAS) at the University of Leeds to work on boundary-layer processes over the
Sahara desert that affect the uplift and transport of Saharan dust, in
particular dust devils and dry convective plumes. The 24-month fixed term post
is part of the Desert Storms project, which is funded through a European
Research Council Starting Grant, and aims to develop parameterisations for
peak-wind generation to be used in climate and dust models. You will
collaborate with and visit partners at the Institute for Meteorology and
Climate Research (IMK) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in

ICAS and IMK are two of the world's leading centres for research on the
meteorology and climate of West Africa. Joining ICAS, you will join an
enthusiastic and motivated School, which aims to achieve the highest standards
in its research and teaching. You will have a PhD in some aspect of meteorology
or atmospheric science, experience with the modelling, analysis and
visualisation of atmospheric datasets, good communication skills, and the
ability to work effectively as part of a team. Experience with programming on a
unix/linux operating system is essential. You will aid in the supervision of
research students, to publish research papers, and to present your research at
national and international meetings.

More details and how to apply may be found at, reference:
ENVEE0181. Closing Date: 20 August 2013.
