Ocean Climatologist $92,560 - $104,260 pa plus an additional 15.4% superannuation Executive Level 1 – (Senior Professional Officer Grad C) – Ref: 13381 Docklands, Melbourne Ongoing position The Bureau of Meteorology is Australia's national weather, climate and water agency. Its expertise and services assist Australians in dealing with the harsh realities of their natural environment, including droughts, floods, fires, storms, tsunami and tropical cyclones. Through regular forecasts, warnings, monitoring and advice spanning the Australian region and Antarctic territory, the Bureau provides one of the fundamental and most widely used services of government. The Bureau contributes to national social, economic, cultural and environmental goals by providing observational, meteorological, hydrological and oceanographic services and by undertaking research into science and environment related issues in support of its operations and services. The Bureau of Meteorology through the Climate Data Services section aims to enable access for the community to Australia’s climate record including that for the ocean. These services range from access to raw data, analysed and interpreted data, map-based products or information on frequency of occurrence of events. The Climate Data Services section is seeking a talented and motivated Executive Officer to assist with achieving this goal. The position will take a role in coordinating and contributing to the development and implementation of a range of technology-based projects aimed at improving the access to ocean climate data and undertaking analysis on this data to deliver a range of monitoring and analysis products. As part of this work, the occupant will need to liaise closely with other professional-level officers within and outside of the Climate Program. To be successful you will have relevant oceanographic, climate and science programming experience as well as success building strong working relationships with stakeholders and project team members.
