We are currently seeking a University educated candidate have a university degree (or equivalent) in Oceanography, remote sensing sciences or equivalent.


Location: Darmstadt, Germany

Start Date: September 2013

Closing date: 15 July 2013




Support the development of documented and agreed user requirements, service data requirements and service specifications in the context of Oceanography and Marine Meteorology.  

Particular activities are 

  • Support the conduct of analyses or studies to make assessments and or validations of requirements.
  • Support the formulation of requirements and specifications
  • Support the conduct of user workshops.
  • Support other means of retrieving information from or providing information to the  Marine user community


Support the development of requirement analysis methods and tools.

Particular activities are: 

  • Support the definition and/or refinement of methods and or processes as developed by RSP/MA Remote sensing scientists and Product Experts.  
  • Support the implementation of the above tools/methods.
  • Document requirement analysis methods and processes.


Support the management of requirements.  

  • Support the documentation of requirements and service specifications according to the  agreed templates;
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of the traceability between the different levels  of requirements and specifications;


Qualifications and Experience

·         a university degree (or equivalent) in  Oceanography, remote sensing sciences or equivalent


Essential Skills

  • Experience in the collection, formulation and documentation of user and technical requirements for space based applications in Oceanography and/or Marine Meteorology; 
  • Knowledge of the operational applications in Oceanography and/or Marine Meteorology, their benefits, their current set-ups and state of the art and related future expectations.


Desirable Skills


  • Experience in one or more of the following will be considered as an advantage:
  • Knowledge of requirements management processes and standards;
  • Knowledge of requirements management tools, e.g. DOORS.
  • The consultant shall have excellent personal communication skills (oral and writing) to interact e.g. with the Marine data science/user/producer Community and with EUMETSAT teams responsible for the tasks.
  • The consultant shall be a team worker.
