Job description:
The Institute for Meteorology of Freie
Universität Berlin, working group on climate diagnostics and
extreme events, is looking for a post-doc researcher interested
in contributing to the group's current research and
teaching profile, and to develop own research foci. Current
activities include research on observed and simulated dynamic
processes modulating the generation of extreme
events, their statistical characteristics and their impacts.
Weather forecast issues as well as climate variability and
change are addressed. The activities envisaged to be carried
out on the position include aspects of Dynamic Meteorology,
data analysis, and interdisciplinary links to natural
and social sciences, as well as links to applicants of research
results. The working environment includes an excellent
network of cooperation within the institute, the university,
and with national and international scientific and operational
institutions. The position includes teaching in the
Bachelor and the Master programs.

Requirements:
Diploma or MSc in Meteorology, or a
neighbouring discipline with experience in meteorology.
PhD/Doctorate.

Assets:
Excellent language skills in German and English;
meteorological data analysis (in particular extreme value
analysis); scientific programming skills; knowledge of dynamic
meteorology; writing of research proposals and conducting
research projects; writing of scientific publications;
teaching at university level, including supervision of BSc and
MSc theses.
