Met Office
Defence R&D Business Development Manager
£28,000 up to £32,320 for exceptional candidates + competitive benefits
Based in Exeter

Full time

About the role
As the UK's national weather service and trusted advisor to the UK MoD, we work
closely with professional partners across defence, both in the UK and
internationally.
Our operational services are underpinned by an in depth understanding of the
atmosphere, developed through decades of scientific research offering effective
support
to military decision makers. While we already have an impressive track record
in this
arena, we’ve identified the international defence market as a key area for
growth. It’s a
market with incredible business opportunities and possibilities; a market
you’ll help us to
make the most of.

This brand new role represents a unique opportunity to apply your science and/or
defence knowledge in a business environment – while further developing your
skills and
expertise in this exciting, ever-evolving market. Working closely with the
Defence R&D
Capability Exploitation Manager, you’ll help deliver our strategy to build
sustainable,
profitable revenue within the international defence sector. We’ll look to you
to proactively
build relationships and increase awareness of our R&D capability within the
sector.
You’ll come up with new ideas and put together business cases to develop new
capability, ensuring that we’re in tune with current and future market needs.
To make
your ideas happen, to fully develop new business in the market, you’ll
collaborate with
colleagues and teams from across the Met Office, from Science to Forecasting.
Regular overseas travel comes with the territory, in Europe, North America and
beyond.
And due to the nature of the role, you will need to undergo security clearance;
you
should also be a UK national or a national of an EU country or
Australia/Canada/New
Zealand/USA.
