CCSD-CIP/05.2013] Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei and Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change Climate Change and Sustainable Development Economics 5 Research Positions Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM, a leading research institute on sustainable development - www.feem.it<http://www.feem.it>) and the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC, a research institution that manages and promotes scientific and applied activities in the field of international climate change research – www.cmcc.it<http://www.cmcc.it>) aim to recruiting motivated and talented researchers to cover five open positions on climate change and sustainable development economics. Selected applicants will join the FEEM Research Programme on Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CCSD), or the CMCC Research Division on Climate Impacts and Policy (CIP). These research branches carry out high level research on climate change economics, climate change integrated assessment modelling, climate change policy and governance, climate-related innovation and technological change, natural hazards and extreme climate-related events, management of natural resources, sustainability and growth beyond GDP. Requirements Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or be close to completion) in economics or energy engineering, mathematics, or physics, coupled with a solid economic background. Four-year (full time equivalent) research experience may substitute the Ph.D. degree. Experience in conducting applied and/or econometric research using both analytical and numerical methods in one or more of the following areas is requested: 1. Integrated climate-change impacts and policy (mitigation and/or adaptation) assessment modeling; 2. Computable general equilibrium, input-output modeling; 3. Land use and forestry economics/modeling; 4. Adaptive capacity to risk posed by extreme climatic and meteorological events, Financial and economic instruments for risk management and sharing; 5. (Terrestrial/marine) biodiversity and ecosystem services. FEEM and CMCC offer a truly interdisciplinary workplace and have strong ties to a worldwide network of research institutions engaged in environmental research. Selected applicants will interact with researchers of different nationalities and have the opportunity to present scientific papers at a number of conferences and workshops. Selected applicants are expected to begin their assignments in September/October 2013. The initial appointment is for 12 months and can be renewed up to 3 years. Gross salary is competitive and will be based on qualification and experience. Research will be carried out at the FEEM or CMCC premises in Milan or in Venice, Italy.
