Dear all,

I'd like to draw your attention to a regional climate modelling (WRF) post-doctoral position currently open at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.

Applications can be lodged and more details can be found here

Please forward this email to anyone who may be interested in this position.

Research Associate / Senior Research Associate

Faculty of Science
Climate Change Research Centre
REF. 9371NET
Salary Level A: A$78K - A$84K or B: A$88K- A$104K pa (plus 17% employer superannuation and leave loading).
Applications are invited from suitably qualified researchers to join the Climate Change Research Centre to work with Associate Professor Jason Evans on regional climate modelling. The work will include using and developing the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, along with designing relevant model experiments and performing analysis.
UNSW Climate Change Research Centre (CCRC) is a multi-disciplinary research group comprising the largest university research facilities of its kind in Australia. CCRC houses research expertise in the three key areas of climate science: atmosphere processes, ocean processes and terrestrial processes. To these, we apply our strengths in climate dynamics, global climate change and extremes of weather and climate.
The successful applicant will hold a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, a research track record in one or more of the following areas: atmospheric modelling, coupled climate modelling, regional climate modelling (in particular WRF), climate variability/change.  However, an individual with a PhD in quantitative applied mathematics or physics would likely be competitive without explicit experience in regional climate modelling. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate programming skills in a Unix/Linux environment (e.g. Fortran, shell scripts, NCL, R, Matlab) as well as possessing excellent written and oral communication skills.
This is a full time fixed term position for two years. This appointment will be made at either level A or level B depending on the successful candidate’s experience and research track record.
An applicant may be required to undergo pre-employment checks prior to appointment to this role.
Applicants should address the selection criteria found within the position description, in their online application.
For further information about the position, please contact Associate Professor Jason Evans on (61 2) 9385 7066 or
